BT VDSL Adapter socket upgrade

I read a while ago about upgrading the standard BT socket in a house to a new VDSL socket. I thought i would give it a go and see if it improved my poxy download and give em a bit more speed.

I purchased a BT Openreach VDSL ADSL NTE5 Adaptor Faceplate - correct name - from a local supplier for 13 quid and followed the online description from clarity.it

now i was a bit sceptical about it but it is a 2 mins thing to install, you lose the microfilter on your box as it is all inside this thing.

So for the sake of 15 quid and 5 mins of my time i have increased my download sync rate

Happy yes, if you dont have Cable and dont want a long drawn out infinity contract and want to try improving your speed give it a go.

I posted this hear for future reference so if anyone else fancied it they could give it a go.

System tray is Full of blank Icons - server, SBS

I had an issue today with the system tray being full of blank icons, you could see nothing and it was causing explorer to crash Run regedit navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\LocalSettings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\TrayNotify  Delete the two keys IconStreams and PastIconStream  Stop task explorere.exe  run explorer.exe   all the icons should now be where they are suppose to be

Office 2013 Asking for Password 365 Exchange - no reason just started happening

So todays issue revolves around office 2013 and exchange 365 accounts.  I had an issue with a user's machine that just kept asking for the password but would not accept it, the login box kept coming back up. Turns out 2013 uses an old auth method so we need to force it to use the new method. So using regedit you need to add the below key Registry key Type Value HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\AlwaysUseMSOAuthForAutoDiscover REG_DWORD 1 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity\EnableADAL REG_DWORD 1 HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Identity\Version REG_DWORD 1 You May also create a reg key file if you wanted to do a few machines Enable modern authentication for Office 2013 clients Close Outlook.
